On February 13th my English group and I went to the American Embassy in the ninth district. Before we entered the embassy, we had our passports checked for security reasons. After that we were taken to a room where Mr N.T. Scharpf was waiting for us. He told us about the American dream. Many immigrants started to move to the USA with little money two centuries ago and few of them managed to become rich and successful, they actually made the dream come true. A very famous Russian immigrant is Sergey Brin, the co-founder of Google. Mr N.T. Scharpf also told us about the immigration waves Americans are currently having and are likely to have in the future. Eventually, we were photographed and informed about the pictures of previous ambassadors hanging on the wall as well.

Die amerikanische Botschaft und “The American Dream”
Am 13. Februar gingen meine Klasse und ich in die amerikanische Botschaft, die sich im 9. Bezirk befindet. Bevor wir die Botschaft betraten, wurden unsere Reisepässe aus Sicherheitsgründen kontrolliert. Danach wurden wir in einen Raum geführt, wo Herr N.T. Scharpf auf uns wartete. Er erzählte uns vom “American Dream”. Viele Einwanderer wanderten schon vor zwei Jahrhunderten mit wenig Geld nach USA und manche von ihnen schafften es, reich und erfolgreich zu werden, sie verwirklichten „den amerikanischen Traum“. Ein sehr berühmter russischer Einwanderer ist Sergey Brin, der Mitbegründer von Google. Herr N.T. Scharpf erzählte uns auch über die Einwanderungswellen, welche die Amerikaner momentan haben und auch in der Zukunft haben könnten. Schließlich wurden wir auch noch fotografiert und über die Bilder von früheren Botschaftern informiert, die an der Wand hingen.
